Happy Birthday Mom

We celebrated my mom's "21st" birthday at Texas Road House. The kids thought it was lots of fun and the older two boys even wore their little cowboy hats! My mom had to sit on a horse saddle while everyone yelled, "Yee Haw!"

The kids where all having fun eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the ground! YUCK!!!

Swimming @ Grandma's House

We went swimming at Grandma's House on Friday night! The kids had a blast and spent some fun with their cousins in the pool. S and T were watching J's kids while C & J went to a convention for Primerica in Las Vegas this weekend. Here are some fun pictures I got of the kids: J was like a little fish. I put the floaties on and then he was off kicking his little legs to get all over the place. He absolutely loves swimming!
W loves to get into Grandma's "little pool" and then slide into the big pool. He'll spend the entire time going around in circles.
Z was loving the water!
K doing a little water ballet

B went all over the pool snorkeling! He seems to have a knack for it.

J's 18 month checkup

I took the boys into the Pediatrician for J's 18 month checkup. He is by far my biggest 18 month old! Weighs in at 25lbs 15oz and Length of 34 inches. The P.A. told T that he should be taking J's shot for him since he's the little guy. T was pretty nervous when the nurse came in with a needle. T and W both pointed J out as the nurse came in, nothing like brotherly love. Fortunately, J took his shot like a big guy with only a little fuss when the needle was in his leg. He is a strong boy!

1st Day of School

Today was the first day of school for my little monkeys! We sent K off this morning to start second grade. She'll be having team teachers this year. K is pretty easy going. I took the kids over to the elementary school yesterday and had K meet her teacher, T had to wait until today. We had family home evening last night on the priesthood and then gave the kids a father's blessing. K said it made her feel better after that, she wasn't so nervous. T, on the other hand, was rearing to go as soon as the blessing was over and rather frustrated that he first had to go to bed for the night before heading off to school the next morning.
T is in afternoon kindergarten. Today I went with him to meet his teacher, go over the class procedures and fill out paperwork. T got up at 6:00am this morning very antsy! This is the very first day of school for him and he was super excited! He seemed pretty bummed out when he couldn't stay at school this morning when we dropped off K. He'll start having normal school days starting tomorrow. I think he'll love it when things really get going.

They both seemed to enjoy walking to school, it was before the real heat comes in the morning so it was a nice walk. The older kids rode their scooters while the little ones rode in the stroller. I think I'll get plenty of exercise pushing those two all year.

C & E wedding

This was a very eventful weekend. Z's brother, C got married to E on Saturday, August 9th. The wedding took place in the Salt Lake Temple and then we went to a luncheon at the Lion House. That evening we traveled down into Sandy, where the reception took place at E's sorority "mom's" home. It was out in the backyard which was beautiful. Their gardens were very lovely, the only problem was that about 30 minutes into the reception a huge rainstorm hit and we had to race for cover. The rest of the reception took place in their family room and back patio until the rain stopped about 1 hour later. The owners had horses that the kids were so excited about.

The owner even gave the kids some treats to feed the horses. It was funny to watch them practically throw the treat and run when the horses tried to eat out of their hands.

Potty Training Bliss

Look who decided to finally get out of diapers!!! This guy has been so stubborn about potty training. I have tried everything. Nothing worked until he decided that he didn't want to wear baby diapers anymore. He has been in underwear for almost two weeks now and is very successful. We are thrilled! It is about time!!! I have been trying to get him out of diapers since he was 2 1/2 years old. He got really sick for a few days with diarrhea and vomiting which lead to a nasty diaper rash, yuck, he decided that he had enough. He told his dad that he wanted to go potty in the big boy potty and that was the end of diapers for W! Yeah!!!

Lowe's Clearance

One of my dad's favorite Saturday activities is to shop at the Lowe's Clearance. He seems to find the most amazing deals! He really is quite addicted to it. This was one of their latest finds, a chandelier for K's room that we purchased for only $13.50, we changed the beads hanging down with some that matched her room for $3! Her room is officially as princess as I can get it.
