Preschool Graduation

Obi is a preschool graduate.
We went to his graduation ("magamation" as W pronounces it)
Obi decided to do one good pose for his teacher!
The class of 2022
Obi's teacher Mrs. P was great and put up with much from my strong willed four year old. She did many fun activities with the children throughout the year including: meeting with Smokey the Bear, trip to the fire station, water party, eating noodles, Halloween parade, learning ABC's and 123s, counting, coloring, cutting, College Friend days, coordination, and graduation. Obi loved being in DSC Preschool!

Cousin's birthday at the Park

We celebrated my nephew's birthday at the riverside park on the way to my grandparents' home.

It was fun for the cousins to be able to spend some time together and play! All grins

He's already got himself a little attitude!
In St George a river looks more like a small creek until a flash flood comes along. This is the same river that tore homes off the river bank a few years back.

Bella's 7th Birthday

Bella wanted her birthday party at the new Hidden Valley Park. It was a great place besides the insistent wind. Bella had a great time and received lots of fun gifts!

Bella played on the monkey bars, she loves to climb!I made Bella a Little Mermaid Birthday cake, I liked how it turned out besides the writing because I ran out of frosting and whipped up some really quick but it was too thin. Ugh!
I need to get myself a real cake decorating kit.

"Blowing out" the candles
We tried several times but it was nearly impossible to light the candles so the princess pretended to blow out the candles for my pleasure! My brother keeps looking for the flames!

The Author's Party

Bella's teacher Ms. B had the children in her class write a book. Each child picked a subject they were interested in and then researched their topics. They wrote and illustrated a book and then Ms. B sent the books to be published. The parents and relatives were invited to attend an author's party where the children each read their stories in the school library. Bella was very proud of her work. She wrote her book about plants and butterflies.

Art is the princess' favorite subject, she was sure to let everyone see her drawings.

Kitchen Remodel Underway

These are the cabinets well underway, I've sanded, primed, painted, and stained. Now we need to add the hardware (cute antique looking knobs and pulls from Lowe's), paint the walls, add the few remaining appliances that we are missing, repair the window (already ordered), add a valance and matching drapes to the dining area, bring in our kitchen table, clean, add a few finishing touches and then it will be all ready!!! ;o) I don't know how they do all this work on those home shows, it looks so much easier! We went with an antique wash to make everything look French country, it is my personal favorite! I hope I can pull it all together, so far so good!
The stain took the longest just to figure out what look I wanted and how to achieve it and then we went crazy with it!
Good thing the counter tops were in excellent condition. It sure makes the work a bit easier!
What do you think? Anyone else like french country?
I promise to remove all tape and add the cover on the light. I won't leave the job unfinished. It's a promise!
Taping the room off seemed to take forever, maybe a solid color room would have been a bit easier! I think the knobs and pulls will really dress up the room! Oh, a few appliances might come in handy.

We're moving

As many of you may already know, we have purchased our first home here in sunny St George. We got a great deal! We bought the home on auction after previously making an offer for $43,000 more than we finally purchased it for. It is a rambler with a full finished basement (less one storage room). It is 2100 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and on about a quarter acre. It is a fixer upper but a great home. We are currently making repairs on the driveway and fixing up the inside to our liking. The backyard is fully fenced and a great summer project! We are thrilled with this blessing for our family and hope to share many memories in our new home. We have been looking for the past year and know the Lord was watching out for us. It just feels right!front of home

It sits 8 blocks from work and within walking distance from the kids' Elementary school, no more taking the bus next year!

Front Room

Kitchen

Looking into the kitchen

This has two times the amount of cupboard space as our current kitchen and two pantry closets for extra storage, it needs a little updating but isn't that the fun part!

our dining room

We can actually fit the table all the way out instead of cramped in our current space, I am removing the vertical blinds, my kids always pull them down

Main bathroom

We will replace the vinyl flooring with tile provided by my parents!!!

Master Bedroom

This included a master bath and two nice size closets Bedroom 2

Nursery (smallest bedroom in the house)Family Room
This room is large enough for a sectional sofa, entertainment center and a pool table, plus a large storage closet that is has partial plumbing for an additional bathroom

Downstairs Bathroom

The kids personal favorite roomBedroom 3
Dinosaur room extraordinaire, I have plenty of ideas of what to do with this room

Bedroom 4
Butterfly room, the princess will love her very own, large bedroom!

Back of house

We want to eventually add a covered wooden deck out here, lots of barbecues for the future

Backyard

This one will be a project/adventure

I see us making the yard into two levels, adding stairs to the lower level, lots of grass, bushes, and trees on top and a playground with swings, playhouse, sandbox and a large garden on the bottom half. It will take us awhile to accomplish all this but I am sure we'll get it done!

Dixie Weekly News Volume 2 Issue 34

Here is Mr. A posing with the Chess Club at P High School. He's one of the advisors for the Chess Club and has been for the past three years. Dixie Weekly News wrote an article about the Chess club because of a tournament in Northern Utah that they recently competed in. Here is the article.

St. George Chess Teams Place at State Tournament The Pine View Chess Team moved up to 4A competition this year. Competition was very tough but Pine View took second in the State High School Chess Tournament. The team was led this year by captain Tom Hutchins. Clutch performances were turned in by Junior Ryan Lewis who only lost one game the entire tournament and took second place in the 11th grade section. Also turning in strong performances were senior Tony Bonny, who received a trophy for second place in the 12th grade. All members of the team performed well.
