Matthew's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Matthew's birthday on Sunday since the weekdays are pretty crazy at our house. Matthew is very into Sesame street so we included all the basic fun of sesame street. He even decided to wear his Elmo Halloween costume!

He loved his cupcakes and was quite surprised as I made a point not to let him see until the party! He was so cute about blowing out each candle individually. Matthew was showered with lots of attention and gifts. He even got excited about his "monies"!

The kids all got hyped up on sugar and played hard. A very successful party!

Cookie Monster and Elmo Cupcakes

Matthew loves Elmo and Cookie Monster! I thought it would be great to decorate up some cupcakes to resemble his favorite monsters. They turned out great and super easy. I used a star/grass tip to make the frosting look like fur. We used squished mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips for the eyes. Zack made sure that Cookie Monster's eyes didn't quite look right. I used oreos cut in half for the mouths. We didn't mind any cookies that cracked, they still tasted great! For Elmo's nose we used peanut M&Ms, reminder if you attempt this you may have to buy a big bag since there weren't enough orange M&Ms in the regular bags!

Valentines Day

Valentines Day is rather simple at our house. We definitely don't make it the huge deal like commercialism wants us to. We simply show love to each other. Make homemade valentines and eat yummy food together. This year I picked up some fun little things for the kids at the Dollar Tree and made Zack a coupon book. Katelyn and Taylor have decided that they want a coupon book for their birthdays! We had waffles with strawberries and whipped topping for dinner which was great! Zack went a bit more crazy; he bought me a blender and a box of chocolates! I love my family and appreciate all the time I have to be with them.

Growth Chart

I decided instead of always just marking and drawing the kids height on our wall, I would make it look fun and more user friendly. I came up with lots of ideas. The one I liked the most came from an etsy store which was in vinyl lettering on a canvas. I painted all the alphabet on the wall after marking height lines on the wall. It turned out much better than I thought it would. The kids love getting marked on the new growth chart!
